Hi, my name is Kathy Lindow and I am currently
the president of the Nevada Dietetic Association.
This is my third position on the NDA board. I
have also served as secretary and was the MNT
Reimbursement Chair. It's tough to believe because
it seems like yesterday, but I have been a dietitian
for over 30 years now.
I
love the field of dietetics and what it has allowed
me to do. It seems like I have done almost everything
in the field and it would be hard for me to say
what my favorite part of the profession is, although
it would probably be clinical and patient counseling.
I have a Masters degree in Nutrition. I am a CNSD,
and have also been a CDE.
My
diverse work experience over the past 30 years
includes more than 12 years of food service management
and clinical management in both acute hospital
and long-term care/senior living settings. I have
worked as a dietitian in acute care, dialysis,
home care, and WIC. For 20 years I was owner and
operator of a successful consulting practice for
health care facilities. In addition, I was an
adjunct professor, teaching principles of nutrition
for more than 15 years.
I
currently work for Don Miller and Associates as
an Executive Success Coach. This allows me to
put all of that great experience to practical
use, helping our clients bring their food service
operations up to peak performance. We have clients
all over the country so I am a road warrior for
most of the year. I get to travel and see what
others are doing that is creative and fun. The
most exciting new concept out there is Room Service,
and our company helps make that transformation
for many of our clients.
I
moved from northern Nevada to Las Vegas about
two years ago. It was certainly a change. I went
from living near Virginia City with wild horses
running through my property to being in the middle
of the largest city in Nevada. This has changed
my favorite outdoor activity from cross country
skiing to golf-there's not a lot of snow in Las
Vegas. The move also allowed me to share my life
with my partner, Gary.
