The purpose of this grant is to provide nutrition education
and clinical practice support materials for community
physicians who serve as preceptors to train medical
students in their offices throughout Nevada.

Refractory Prostate Cancer: Effect of Omega-3 Fatty
Acids"

grant is to investigate the efficacy and safety of high
oral doses of omega-3 fatty acids (DHA)in men with prostate
cancer who are refractory to hormone ablation.

Survey of Elementary School Employees on the School
Environment"
PI: Jamie Benedict, Ph.D., R.D., Co-PI: Gwenn Snow,
M.S., R.D. Funding Source: University of Nevada Agricultural
Experiment Station This statewide survey will provide
information about characteristics of the elementary
school environment that may impact obesity risk among
children. School employees' opinions of strategies that
may be useful in promoting healthful food choices and
physical activity among students, barriers that may
encountered, and their perceived roles will also be
assessed.

of Agriculture Using qualitative methodologies, the
purpose of this study is to learn more about nutrition-education
related priorities and values of low-income persons
throughout Nevada. The information will be used to improve
Food Stamp Nutrition Education programs.
